Shreya Nara

She has performed in many Shubanjali events, trying to hone her talent. On the note of skills, Shreya holds a double degree black belt in Soo Bahk Do (a form of martial arts). On a more musical note, she plays the piano and has performed in various prestigious halls in New York. Shreya has been a recipient of the Golden Key Music Festival Awards for five consecutive years.

Shreya is a rising junior at the Academy for Information Technology at Union County Vocational Tech schools. She has been learning Bharatanatyam from the age of 6. After four years of training under Guru Bala Devi Chandrashekar, she has been learning from Guru Suba Parmar and Guru Swamimalai K Suresh for the past 6 years. She likes learning Bharatanatyam because skills are important for success and this is just one of many she hopes to acquire.

In her free time, she enjoys reading books relating to politics, finance, environmental solutions to problems, and other miscellaneous topics. Apart from reading, her hobbies include playing the daily Wordle, (and coming up with what other people call “lame puns”) watching movies, youtube.

Shreya is a member of the Green Cause (a student-led group that educates the New Jersey area about environmental issues) and has served as the organization's events chair in her sophomore year.
